Services for David Steve Sleppy, 59, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wilson and Son Chapel, Wellsville. Burial will be at the Wellsville Cemetery following the services.

Mr. Sleppy died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at the Miami County Hospital in Paola.

He was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Wellsville, the son of Steven C. and Fern Hartman Sleppy. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto. He was employed as a brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 20 years.

He was a member of the Elks Club and Eagles, both of Osawatomie, and the Osawatomie Golf Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Valerie Schendel and Heather McDaniels, both of Wellsville; a sister, Marjorie Haney, Lawrence; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m to 8:30 p.m. today at the Wilson and Son Chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the Dave Sleppy Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Wilson and Son Chapel, Box 486, Wellsville 66092.
