Apparent miscommunication at U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback's Kansas campaign headquarters put the kibosh on the candidate's scheduled Lawrence Chamber of Commerce forum Monday.
Brownback was set to address about 40 chamber members and other interested individuals at 2 p.m. at the Eldridge Hotel. But instead he has rescheduled to piggyback on a similar event arranged Thursday by the chamber for 3rd District U.S. Rep. Vince Snowbarger, an Olathe Republican.
``We learned of his not coming at noon,'' said Lawrence Chamber President Gary Toebben. ``We were informed by his campaign office that there had been some miscommunication at his campaign office. He asked if he can join us Thursday when Vince Snowbarger will be here and we said if that's OK with Vince Snowbarger, it's OK with us. Then we called everybody who had made reservations. We're glad we had an opportunity to call most of the people and let them know so they didn't make a trip that wasted their time.''
Snowbarger's chamber forum, which is open to the public, will be at noon Thursday at the Eldridge. The luncheon is $10. The speeches are free.
Brownback already had a scheduled stop in Lawrence on Thursday, part of his 24-city campaign bus tour.
Brownback campaign spokesmen weren't immediately available for comment.
