Art lovers can buy everything from watercolors to jewelry and support the Douglas County AIDS Project at the organization's sixth annual Red Ribbon Art Auction on Sunday.

AIDS Project executive director Sidney Hardgrave said organizers hope to raise $10,000 at this year's auction.

Local artists have donated items to the auction, including a Rollin Karg blue glass sculpture, a Collette Bangert watercolor and a man's ring made by Allan Wilkinson.

State Rep. Barbara Ballard, D-Lawrence, and Pam Casagrande are in charge of the event. Former Kansas Atty. Gen. Robert Stephan will cry the auction along with Stephen Orcutt, an Iola auctioneer.

The auction will be at Fifi's Banquet Connection, 1350 N. Third Street, and doors will open at 6 p.m. for a preview of the artwork.

Bidding begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 for couples and are available at the AIDS Project offices or at the door. For more information, call 843-0040.
