Members of the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a Lawrence man after watching his house for several months.

Douglas County Undersheriff Kenny Massey said drug investigators received a tip about Charles Allen Jones, 49, more than half a year ago.

"We've been watching this guy quite awhile," Massey said. "We've had intelligence on him probably six to eight months."

Members of the drug unit about 8:15 p.m. Saturday searched the house in the 2600 block of Redbud.

Jones was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, no drug tax stamp, felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine with intent to sell.

Massey said investigators seized about three grams of cocaine and some scales.

Jones was released from the Douglas County Jail about 2 p.m. Monday. Samples of the confiscated drug will be sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in Topeka for testing, and prosecutors will file charges later, pending the test results.
