Ames, Iowa Kansas snapped a six-match losing skid with a 13-15, 15-5, 7-15, 15-13, 15-9 victory over Iowa State to even its volleyball record.
The Jayhawks (15-15 overall, 5-13 Big 12) trailed 11-4 in the fourth game before outlasting the Cyclones in the fifth game.
"It was a pretty remarkable match," KU coach Ray Bechard said. "We survived tonight. We finally found a way to get it done."
KU relied on a balanced attack. Senior Moira Donovan led the Jayhawks with 20 kills. Amanda Reves (18 kills), Mary Beth Albrecht (14), Nancy Bell (12) and Laura Rohde (10) also contributed to the Jayhawks' attack.
The Jayhawks will wrap its season this week with two 7:30 p.m. home matches. They'll play host to Texas Tech on Friday and Baylor on Saturday. It will be announced on Wednesday if KU will be able to play in the new Horejsi Family Athletics Center. Otherwise, the matches will be played in Allen Fieldhouse.
