A residential house on Mississippi is being gutted. More than a week ago, they cordoned it off with bright red, asbestos police line-type stuff. One day a bunch of guys wearing masks and gloves were carrying out loads of debris. Does the University now own this house and did it have to pay for the asbestos cleanup?

The home on Mississippi Street is owned by KU and will be razed to make way for a new parking garage with entrances from Mississippi and from Oread Avenue. The cost of the demolition, as well as asbestos removal, is part of the project's cost of $10 million.
