Regarding KU Coca-Cola scholarships to faculty and staff's children: Does KU offer an equal opportunity to KU faculty and staff who do not have children; those who can't have children or those who choose not to have children? What is the equal benefit? Can the person designate a student of their choice to receive the Coca-Cola scholarship?

This year 101 dependents of KU employees were awarded scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,000 as part of the university's proceeds from an exclusive beverage agreement with Coca-Cola. The total amount awarded was $86,000. The program is for dependents of KU employees which would include step children and others for whom employees are legally responsible.
