Baldwin — The Baldwin school board discussed a tax abatement plan by the Baldwin City Commission on Monday night but took no action.
The city wants to adopt a policy allowing 5-year tax abatements for business improvement costs exceeding $10,000.
The school district would have an unspecified amount of otherwise available funds delayed by the abatements, but board members agreed the policy would help spur economic development in the area, Supt. John Nuspl said.
The city council is expected to approve the abatement policy in a few weeks, Nuspl said.
