Security of private swimming pools is the responsibility of the owner, City Manager Mike Wildgen said.

Fencing of 6 feet in height is required around all in-ground swimming pools, as well as around above-ground pools that contain more than 5,000 gallons of water, he said.

"I would suggest the concerned party contact the owner of the swimming pool as the city does not regulate the security of private swimming pools," Wildgen said.

What is the equal benefit? Can the person designate a student of their choice to receive the Coca-Cola scholarship?

This year 101 dependents of KU employees were awarded scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,000 as part of the university's proceeds from an exclusive beverage agreement with Coca-Cola. The total amount awarded was $86,000. The program is for dependents of KU employees which would include stepchildren and others for whom employees are legally responsible.
