MARQUETTE — Justin Carlson completed 10 of 28 passes for 205 yards to lead Bethany's junior varsity to a 9-7 football victory over Haskell Indian Nations University in the season finale.
Haskell ended the season with a 2-7 record. Bethany improved to 4-0.
Bethany scored the first nine points -- on Carlson's 42-yard pass to Levi Esses and a 36-yard field goal by Jason Liswood.
Haskell's lone TD was Daniel Johnson's 23-yard pass to Jason George with 3:58 left in the second quarter. Johnson finished with 205 yards on 10-of-28 passing. Kent Tomah was Johnson's favorite target with five catches for 135 yards.
The game was played on an eight-man field because Bethany's home field was in shambles after two Saturday games.
Neither team could generate a ground game on the muddy field. Haskell was limited to minus-3 yards on 21 carries. Bethany had 25 yards on 17 carries.
