A Eudora man faces rape and aggravated criminal sodomy charges involving a 6-year-old Baldwin girl after authorities seized his computer.
Douglas County Sheriff Loren Anderson said the 26-year-old suspect -- who remains in the county jail on $200,000 bond --might have posted child pornography on the Internet. A computer taken from the suspect's house in Eudora about 6 p.m. Tuesday is evidence in the case.
Anderson said authorities acted Tuesday after the alleged victim's mother called Baldwin police and Douglas County investigators. Armed with a search warrant, investigators arrested their suspect on rape, sodomy and sexual exploitation of a child charges.
He appeared in court at 3 p.m. Wednesday, where bond was set at $200,000. Prosecutors formally filed two rape and five aggravated criminal sodomy charges on Wednesday.
Anderson said allegations involve child pornography on the Internet, but there have been no connections established with the notorious "Wonderland Club." More than 100 suspects in 14 countries were involved in that child pornography ring, and 32 search warrants were served on Sept. 1, including one in Lawrence.
"We have one victim at this point," Anderson said.
The suspect is an acquaintance of the girl's family, he said.
The Eudora man's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Division 4 court room at the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, 111 E. 11th.
