How much did KU spend promoting football ticket sales this year? How did that translate into improved ticket sales when the stadium is relatively empty?

KU spent $250,000, an increase of $100,000 from the previous year. "We believe our exposure in the public market was dramatically increased in light of more public season ticket sales for 1998," said Janelle Martin, associate director of athletics.

Whatever happened to the actor who played "Corky" on the old TV series "Life Goes On"?

Chris Burke, "Life Goes On's" Corky Thatcher, continues to work in television, including the recurring role of an angel on CBS' "Touched by an Angel." Now 33, he serves as the National Down Syndrome spokesman.

Why doesn't Lawrence High School have a weighted GPA?

Neither Lawrence High School nor Free State High School has a weighted grade-point average.

"There's never been a discussion in my tenure here," said Nettie Collins-Hart, director of curriculum for Lawrence Public Schools. "There's never been a serious proposal for it. I don't think there's a need for it."

Under a weighted GPA system, students who receive a lower grade in an advanced class would have their grade averaged with those receiving higher marks in regular classes. For example, a "B+" in an advanced class would be averaged the same as an "A" in a regular class in determining total grade-point average for transcripts.
