Mo Valley AAU Names Amyx: Rachel Amyx, a member of the Lawrence Flames sixth grade team, has been named the most outstanding AAU basketball player for the 10-plus age group in the Missouri Valley Region.

Heitzman Wins In Tulsa: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the ages 65-69 division of the USA Track and Field 15K last Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Heitzman's time of 59:59 broke the state record of 1:00:03 that Heitzman set in last year's race.

  • Salvatore Takes Title: Genny Salvatore of the Kansas School of Gymnastics won the all-around in her age group at the Judge's Cup meet last Saturday in Manhattan. Other KSG competitors and their placings in the all-around were: Karen Kroge, third; Kate Belford, fourth; Laura Devlin, fourth; Nicole Jones, eighth; and Dayna Brown, eighth.

  • Rock Rolls: Elise Rock of the Lawrence Aquahawks earned eight first-place finishes at the Halloween Spooktacular swim meet last weekend in Olathe.

Other Aquahawk results: Teammate Alicia Sellon had six firsts while Emmie Caplan and Ashley Robinson collected five apiece. Also, Alysha Valencia earned three firsts, Megan Little two and Ashley Jackson and Grace Beaton one each.
