Manhattan The Flint Hills Area Veterans' Coalition is planning a Veteran's Day celebration and the first Fort Riley Alumni Reunion, which will run from Nov. 10-12. The events will be held in Manhattan.
Although the program is especially designed to appeal to veterans who trained at Fort Riley and may wish to return for a visit, the general public is invited to attend also.
Events planned for the three days include a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the Fort Leavenworth-Fort Riley Military Trail, Army cavalry charge reenactment, a settlers equipment display and camp, tours of Fort Riley historical sites, a parade, a visit to a weapons firing range and the dedication of a new flagpole at the Kansas State University Military Science building.
