Topeka Services for Steven Edwin Thompson, 50, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka. Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died Saturday, May 24, 1998, at a Holton hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Topeka, the son of Ivan Dale and Fannie Rene Morrison Thompson Sr.
Mr. Thompson graduated from Meriden High School in 1965. He had lived in Topeka until moving to Lawrence in 1974. He returned to Topeka in 1983.
He worked for Exhibitor's Film Delivery in Topeka. Later, he worked for Graves Truck Line which later became American National Resources. He owned and operated Thompson Auto Supply in Meriden, and was formerly an independent drag racer. He was a pit crewman for Dean Anderson Racing and Renyer Racing, both of Topeka, and Baxter's Inc. of Lawrence.
He was a member of Local No. 696 of the Teamsters Union of Topeka; the American Legion Post No. 225 in Ozawkie; and was former vice president and treasurer of Mid-American Quarter Midget Assn. of Lawrence. He was a former coach and assistant coach for the Douglas County Amateur Baseball Assn.
He married Stephanie Jane Brown on Dec. 7, 1979, in Lenox, Iowa. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Travis, Lawrence; two brothers, Ivan Jr., Topeka, and Gary, Oskaloosa; his father, Ivan Sr., Topeka; and two sisters, Doris Cole, Topeka, and Darlene Thompson, Worchester, Mass.
