The season includes father/daughter pianist Claude Frank and violinist Pamela Frank, Sept. 8; opera singer Phyllis Pancella and pianist-composer Timothy Hoekman, Oct. 3; Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, Nov. 7; Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Dec. 12; pianist John McIntyre, Jan. 23; the Coulter-Phillips Ensemble, March 15; and ``Symphony of Psalms'' by Stravinsky, April 18.

Topeka -- The Topeka Symphony Orchestra will lead off its 53rd year with a special pre-season concert featuring jazz legend Dave Brubeck.
``An Evening with Dave Brubeck'' will take place Aug. 29 at the Topeka Performing Arts Center.
The rest of the season includes The Three Pianists, Sept. 26; ``Classical Masterworks,'' Nov. 7; ``Tis the Season,'' Dec. 12; ``An Evening of Light Classics,'' Feb. 6; ``Musical Mysticism,'' March 13; and ``Timeless Classics,'' April 7.

ArtWalk signing up
The fourth annual Lawrence ArtWalk, a self-guided tour of Lawrence artists' studios/workshops and galleries, is set for Oct. 24-25.
Participating artists receive posters, guide maps, invitation postcards and street signs. To participate, artists must have a Lawrence address. The registration fee, for solo or group showings, is $30.
The deadline for registration is June 15, set earlier to allow photographs and more detailed descriptions to be published in guidebook.

Overland Park -- A work by choreographer Jerel Hilding will be performed as part of Miller-Marley Youth Ballet's ``An Evening of Dance'' at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. May 31 at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.
Hilding is associate professor of dance at Kansas University.
The program will also include ``Graduation Ball,'' by Johann Strauss, and a piece by Russell Baker, of the State Ballet of Missouri.

Wichita -- The 1998 National Small Oil Painting Competition deadline is July 31. The fee is $20 for two entries. The media for the competition is painting only, including alkyds.
The juror is Donald Roller Wilson.
