Kansas University's Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity has announced it will join three other fraternities on campus planning to be alcohol-free by 2000.

The alcohol-free policy will be phased in over the next year and a half to make the transition as smooth as possible, chapter officials said Friday.

In the fall, KU's Phi Gamma Delta ordered that alcohol be banned from its house by the year 2000. And last spring, leaders of the Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Nu fraternities announced nationwide alcohol bans that would take effect by 2000.
