SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL TO HOLD CAMPS

— The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival will offer two summer camps for youngsters ages 8-16.

The first is slated June 22-July 3 at Country Club Congregational United Church of Christ in Brookside. The second will be held July 6-17 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Lenexa.

The two-week camps meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with age-divided classes taught by theater professionals.

In addition to the camps, Bard Buddies, a program for 5- to 8-year-olds, will be offered. The children meet from 10 a.m. to noon June 9 and 16 at the Brookside church and June 11 and 18 at the Lenexa church.

Olathe arts festival

looking for artists

Olathe -- The Hidden Glen Arts Festival is seeking artists for its next festival on Oct. 3-4 at Cedar Creek.

Artwork is being accepted in these categories: two-dimensional -- painting, printmaking and drawing; and three-dimensional -- sculpture, pottery, jewelry, glass, fiber, wood and decorative furniture. A minimum of 80 artists will be juried in.

KU senior wins

design award

Andreas Kitsios, a Kansas University senior from Nicosia, Cyprus, won an honorable mention in Print Magazine's 34th annual International Student Cover Design Competition.

Kitsios' design, ``The 11th Hour,'' was included in the November-December 1997 issue of the magazine. A total of 310 designs were entered from schools around the world.
