A Kansas City man was admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with injuries after the pickup he was driving was struck on the driver's side by another truck on Sunday afternoon near the Lawrence Municipal Airport.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crews at 5:48 p.m. were called to the two-vehicle accident at U.S. Highway 24-40 and Douglas County Road 1500E.

Gary Neeley, Kansas City, Mo., was listed in good condition at LMH.

The black pickup truck that he was driving east on U.S. 24-40 was struck by a white pickup that attempted to cross the highway south on 1500E after the white pickup apparently ran a stop sign, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper L.T. Rushmeyer said.

A passenger in Neeley's pickup, along with a passenger in the white pickup, also were taken to LMH. Their injuries were not considered serious, authorities said.

The names of the passengers weren't immediately available.
