On May 2, 1898, the Lawrence World's headline read ``Patriotism at the University,'' and the brief item read: ``At a mass meeting of the university it was decided to have no school tomorrow, the morning to be spent in honoring the Lawrence soldiers and the afternoon in watching the Kansas-Nebraska [base]ball game. All students will meet tomorrow morning at Music Hall [1001 Mass.] at 9 o'clock and will march to the depot in a body with Capt. Clarke's company of fighters.''
