A man who may be responsible for at least four recent robberies -- including an incident at Hy-Vee earlier this week in which a device that looked like a bomb was used -- was arrested Thursday afternoon by Lawrence police.
Ibraheem Rasheed Ali, 23, Topeka, was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 4 p.m. on a single charge of aggravated robbery. He was being held without bond Thursday night.
Ali was arrested Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop in Lawrence.
He reportedly matched a description of a suspect in robberies at the Virginia Inn Motel, 2907 W. Sixth, on Jan. 31 and Saturday.
He also may be the man who robbed Beeper Depot, 2540 Iowa, on Saturday and Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store, 3504 Clinton Pkwy, on Monday.
