— Services for Marie Elizabeth Traxler, 76, Lecompton, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Mrs. Traxler died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Lone Star, the daughter of Claude and Margaret Murphy Cottrell. She lived in Lecompton for most of her life, where she was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1989. Before that, she was a telephone operator in Lecompton for 13 years and also worked at the Supply Depot of Pauline.

She was a member of the Lecompton United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, and the Lane University Historical Society.

She married Louis Traxler on Nov. 26, 1942, in Lecompton. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Linda Orr, Linwood; a son, Richard Traxler, Perry; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Lane University Historical Society, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
