A shouting match escalated into a fight Tuesday night, and friends of the combatants became involved when one of them ran his car into another one, pinning him to a car.

Police are looking for the driver of a gray Honda Civic who hit Joseph Kowalski, 21, cutting and injuring his leg about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Kowalski, Lawrence, was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital following the incident.

Lawrence Police Department spokesman Michael Monroe said individuals in two cars at Cork & Barrel Wine and Spirits, 2000 W. 23rd, began arguing. One of the drivers left, followed by the other car.

The cars stopped at a residence in the 3100 block of West 22nd, and a fight began. Monroe said two men fought while their friends watched to make sure the ``fight was fair.'' Monroe said one of the witnesses lived at a residence on the block.

After losing the fight, one of the men jumped into a truck and drove away. His friend, the driver of the gray Honda, then ``tried to run down'' Kowalski, pinning his leg against a parked car, a red Honda Civic.

The bumper of the red Honda, and another car that was hit by the gray car, were damaged.

Monroe said police haven't identified the driver of the car but are looking for a gray Honda Civic.
