The Lawrence Journal-World and Journal-World Web Works are interested in your club or organization.
The Journal-World is seeking nonprofit groups to list in an online community on lawrence.com. Web Works is offering all community nonprofits a free website hosted by lawrence.com.
``Lawrence.com has become the area's most-used local online vehicle,'' said Dan Simons, who's in charge of New Ventures for the World Co., parent company of the Journal-World. ``Without a doubt, more people visit lawrence.com than any other local community site.''
Simons said that lawrence.com is the place for local groups to be so their websites don't get lost on the Internet.
``If you currently have a site, we can host it,'' Simons said. ``If you need a site, we will provide templates to get you online. Later, if you develop your own site, we'll host that one. All of this is free.''
The same information that these clubs provide on the website will be included in the 1998 edition of City Scene, a guide printed in September by the Journal-World. The guide is designed to help people get settled in town.
These groups can be included on the web, even if they don't know the first thing about the Internet.
All they have to do is fill out the coupon that appears in the advertisement on page 5A of today's Journal-World. Or they can tap into an online form: http://www.lawrence.com/clubs to fill out the information.
Regardless of whether you fill out the coupon in the newspaper or go online to provide your information, it will be shared by City Scene 1998 and Web Works.
