A Kansas University pharmaceutical chemistry professor has been announced as the 1998 recipient of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Volwiler Research Achievement Award.
Ronald Borchardt, Solon E. Summerfield distinguished professor and chair of the KU department of pharmaceutical chemistry, was selected by the AACP board of directors for the association's premier research award -- including a $12,500 prize -- given annually to recognize outstanding research conducted by a pharmaceutical scientist or educator.
Borchardt will receive the award July 21 at the 99th annual AACP meeting awards banquet in Snowmass Village, Colo.
He is known for his work in protein biochemistry, physical chemistry, drug design, biopharmaceuticals and drug delivery. In addition to a number of national awards, Borchardt has received the Dolph C. Simons Sr. Research Award and the Louise Byrd Graduate Educator Award at KU.
