The first Clinton Lake Rowing Regatta will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Boat Ramp No. 5 in Bloomington Park on the south side of Clinton Lake.

The event is sponsored by the Lawrence Boat Club.

Participating rowing clubs will be the Kansas City Rowing Club, the Tulsa Rowing Club, the Topeka Rowing Assn. and the Lawrence Boat Club.

Medals for the first three places will be given in each race, and trophies will be awarded for the Club, Masters and Juniors points.

Masters events are for rowers age 27 or older, while Juniors events are for high school-age athletes.

Assistance for the event is being provided by Kansas University Women's Varsity Rowing, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, Signal Corps Radio, Adamsnet Web Arts, Kansas Financial Group and KANU radio.

The regatta is open to the public.

Volunteers are needed to help at the finish line, the docks and at the registration and result tables.
