— Central, South

ninth graders split

Brandon Jackson and Cuyler Halpin both scored 12 points and Aubrey Gilbert 11 for the Mustangs (3-1). Sheldon McGuire (23 points) and Jamie Peterson (20) led the Cougars (1-2).

South's B team improved to 2-0 with a 73-61 win thanks to 15 points from Randy Bagwell and Ken Easthouse's 12. Damien Patton had 14 points for Central (2-1)

South eighth-graders

take two from Central

South's eighth-grade boys basketball team had no trouble against Central on Monday, winning both the A and B games at South.

The Cougars' A team (2-1) won, 58-27, with Brandon McAnderson scoring 13 points.

South's B team improved to 3-0 with a 50-4 win over Central. Lucas Weber scored 13 for the Cougars.

Eudora wins

Baldwin loses

Wellsville -- Baldwin Junior High's eighth-grade boys basketball team lost to Nike, 50-37, on Monday. Kyler Troth scored 11 points for Baldwin (1-2). In the seventh-grade tourney, Baldwin beat Nike, 51-36. Andy Hannon scored 15 points for Baldwin (3-0).

Baker men cruise

Baldwin -- Julio Dos Santos and Aaron Schwerman combined for 41 points to boost Baker to an 85-64 men's college basketball victory over Graceland Monday.

BU women fall

Baldwin -- Graceland led 46-29 at halftime en route to an 85-77 women's college basketball win over Baker on Monday. Crystal Ryberg scored 18 points to pace BU.
