LHS GIRLS WIN

— The Lions (4-4) led 19-4 after the first quarter and rolled to its fourth victory in five games.

"We had good team balance with not many turnovers," LHS coach David Platt said. "A lot of baskets came off assists. We had the high-low post going well most of the game."

Easterwood finished with 21 points. Ramirez scored 16 and May added 14.

"Allison scored a lot of points early and started getting her stroke back," Platt said. "We need her to score."

LHS used 16 players in the rout. The Lions led 43-15 at halftime and 64-26 after three quarters.

In the junior varsity contest, the Lions rolled, 47-12. Jamie Rusk scored 12 points to lead LHS (3-6).

Next for the Lions is a home contest with Shawnee Mission North on Thursday. Tipoff is 7:15 p.m.

Basehor-Linwood 29

DeSoto -- Junior Erica Francis, 6-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, scored 14 points to lead DeSoto to a 51-29 Kaw Valley League girls basketball victory over Basehor-Linwood Monday.

Tiffany Bernard added 11 points for DeSoto (6-1 overall, 4-0 KVL).

DeSoto outscored Basehor, 14-2, in the third quarter to pull away from the Bobcats.

The Wildcats will play host to top-ranked Santa Fe Trail tonight in a key KVL contest.
