— Services for Irene Sanford, 87, Topeka and formerly of Lecompton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Mrs. Sanford died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998 at the Topeka Adult Care Center.

She was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Salina, the daughter of Emmor Smith and Albertina Nanetta Williams McMinn.

She lived in Michigan before moving to Lecompton in 1946. She moved to Topeka six years ago.

She graduated from Rantoul High School in 1928. She was a member of the Lecompton United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sanford served as the Lecompton city clerk for many years. She was employed by the Douglas County Extension Service and the United Methodist Home of Topeka.

She married Raymond M. Sanford on April 10, 1932, at Kansas City. He died March 10, 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen L. Werts, Topeka, and Diana J. Guffey, Huntington Beach, Calif.; four sons, Galen F. Sanford, Camdenton, Mo., Donald M. Sanford, Topeka, Larry D. Sanford, Clinton, and Danny L. Sanford, Lecompton; a brother, Vernon McMinn, Garden Grove, Calif.; a sister, Doris Leonard, Topeka; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Lecompton United Methodist Church, 402 Elmore, Lecompton 66050.
