Independence, Kan. -- Memorial services for Carolyn Dixon, 51, Independence, were held Wednesday at Potts Chapel, Independence. She was cremated.
Mrs. Dixon died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute.
She was born Feb. 21, 1946, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Claude Sicklesteel and Alta Tommie Thomas Sicklesteel. She attended Washburn University in Topeka for two years. She was employed as a teller at the Citizens National Bank.
She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a past president of American Legion Auxiliary in Lawrence and a former district historian of American Legion Auxiliary of Independence, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Independence.
She married John W. Dixon on Dec. 1, 1973, in Oskaloosa. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Brian Dixon, Lawrence; her father, Topeka; a sister, Claudia Hamer, Topeka; and a grandchild.
