— Memorial services for Carolyn Dixon, 51, Independence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Potts Chapel, Independence. She was cremated.

Mrs. Dixon died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at the Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute.

She was born Feb. 21, 1946, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Claude Sicklesteel and Alta Tommie Thomas Sicklesteel. She attended Washburn University in Topeka for two years. She was employed as a teller at the Citizens National Bank.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Lawrence, a former district historian for the northeast Kansas Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Independence.

She married John W. Dixon on Dec. 1, 1973, in Oskaloosa. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Brian Dixon, Lawrence; her father, Topeka; a sister, Claudia Hamer, Topeka; and a grandchild.
