A visiting professor will give a talk Sunday afternoon on a pre-Civil War battle that took place near Lecompton.
Antonio de la Cova, professor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., will speak on the Battle of Fort Titus at 2 p.m. at Constitution Hall in Lecompton.
The battle, which took place about two miles south of Lecompton, occurred in 1856 between Free Staters and pro-slavery forces. One man was killed in the battle and several were taken prisoners.
The talk is sponsored by the Kansas State Historical Society.
