— Services for Clarence M. Rothwell, 71, Topeka, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Baptist Church in Topeka. His body was cremated.

Mr. Rothwell died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Douglas County, the son of Thurman A. Rothwell and Mable F. Carr Rothwell.

Mr. Rothwell grew up attending Douglas County schools and graduated from Lecompton High School.

He moved from Lawrence to Topeka in 1954.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Topeka. He owned and operated Rothwell Texaco for 20 years and also worked as an auto mechanic for 12 years for Ed Bozarth. He served in the Army.

Mr. Rothwell married Vernice L. Hibner Parnell on April 12, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two brothers, Wilbur Rothwell, Lawrence, and Sylvester Rothwell, Lecompton; and two sisters, Ruth Vervynck, Lawrence, and Jane Childs, Belvue, Neb.

The family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Assn. or American Heart Assn.

The Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka is in charge of arrangements.
