An 18-year-old Lawrence woman suffered minor injuries in a two-car wreck Saturday near the intersection of Kasold Drive and Clinton Parkway.

Samantha Sturdevant was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. Saturday. Shapour Vossought, Lawrence, was heading north on Kasold when he made a left turn into Hy-Vee Food & Drug Store, 3504 Clinton Pkwy. He was hit by a southbound 1988 Acura Integra driven by Richard Sturdevant. Samantha Sturdevant was a passenger in that car.

Vossought, who was driving a 1990 Isuzu Trooper, was cited for making an improper left turn, said police Sgt. Mark Warren.

Kansas House prayer

The Rev. Dick Pierson, pastor of the West Side Presbyterian Church, 1024 Kasold, will be guest chaplain in the Kansas House of Representatives Monday.

As guest chaplain, Pierson will present the opening prayer when the session begins at 11 a.m. Monday in the House chambers.

Pierson is being sponsored by Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence.

LMH to offer

cholesterol workshop

Lawrence Memorial Hospital is offering a two-hour workshop, Lowering Your Cholesterol, from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 26.

The workshop explains how diet relates to heart disease. A registered dietitian will also teach participants how to modify their diet to help reduce their cholesterol level.

scheduled for March 5

A Heart Disease, Cancer Risk and Weight Control Workshop will be at 7 p.m. March 5 at the Lawrence Visitor Center, 402 N. Second St.
