Lawrence High's girls basketball team unleashed a beast of an offense Saturday afternoon.

All 10 LHS players scored in the Lions' 79-38 romp of Kansas City Harmon in the home makeup game. The offensive output was the most by the Lions since a 93-31 victory over Wichita Heights Jan. 28, 1993.

``We played the best offensively I've seen us play,'' said LHS coach David Platt, whose team evened its record at 8-8. ``We were able to get the ball down on the blocks. Somer Easterwood and Laura Rhodes are going to finish more than they miss when we do that.''

Juniors Jacinta Langford and Easterwood scored 18 points apiece to lead the Lions. Sophomore Dani May and Rhodes, a senior, contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Langford's point total was a career high. She made two three-pointers, also a personal best.

``I knew she could shoot the ball well,'' Platt said. ``I've seen her doing it in the summer leagues and in junior high. Today she decided to show us that she could do it as a Lion.''

Said Langford, ``It felt really good to shoot that well. I had been working on my shooting. Today I got myself into the right spots and finally the ball started to go in.''

The Lions led 14-5 after one quarter and 31-13 at halftime.

``We just picked up our game in the second quarter and from there we were able to coast along,'' Langford said.

The Lions snapped a three-game losing skid with the victory. They lost to Olathe East, Shawnee Mission Northwest and SM East by a combined 14 points.

``We've been playing well the last three games,'' Platt said. ``But we've had lapses. Today we finally put it all together and got a win out of it.''

The Lions held a commanding 54-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

``This win was a really big intensity booster for us,'' Langford said. ``After those tough losses we really needed to get a big win to help boost our confidence.''

KC Harmon dropped to 1-14 with the setback.

Lawrence's next three games are on the road -- at Topeka High, SM South and Overland Park Aquinas. The Lions will play Monday at Topeka High. Tipoff is approximately 7:30 p.m.

``We don't have an easy game left on the schedule,'' Platt said. ``All but one is on the road and they're all against tough teams.''

Lawrence's regular-season finale is Feb. 26 at LHS against Olathe North.
