All public school students in grades 3 and up may enter the Kansas National Education Assn. ``A Teacher to Remember'' student essay contest in honor of National Teacher Day.
Students are invited to write about a special public school teacher, either current or past, who made a positive impact on their lives. Essays for students in grades 3-8 are limited to 250 words; essays for students in grades 9-12 should be no longer than 500 words. Typed and handwritten formats will be accepted.
A panel of teaching professionals will judge the essays. One winner from each grade category, grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 will receive a $50 savings bond. The teacher the student commemorates will receive a $50 gift certificate.
Deadline for entry is March 1, 1998. Entries should be mailed to: KNEA Teacher Essay Contest, 715 W. 10th St., Topeka, Kan. 66612-1686.
Each entry must include the name, school and town of the teacher in the essay and the name, address, grade, school and current teacher of the student submitting the essay.
