Law enforcement report

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Currency and checks valued on a police report at $10,882 were stolen between Nov. 8 and Dec. 26 from Earl May Nursery and Garden Center, 3200 Iowa. The theft was reported Jan. 28 by an employee and made public by Lawrence police on Monday night.

Police reports

  • Leslie Leon Morse Jr., 37, Lawrence was arrested by Lawrence police on a charge of aggravated battery. Details of the arrest weren't immediately available. Morse was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 10:53 a.m. Monday and was being held without bond Monday night.
  • About $1,000 worth of damage was done to the paint on a 1972 Ford Mustang's front and rear driver's side door with a key sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of West Third Street, Lawrence police reported.

Condition reports

  • Jennifer Lovette, Lawrence, has been released from Columbia-Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, where she was taken by helicopter following an accident Jan. 24 at 19th and Tennessee.
  • Norma Kurtz, Eudora, was listed in serious condition Monday night in a surgical/trauma intensive care unit at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., after being injured in an automobile accident Jan. 5 at 23rd and Harper.
