— Services for Dorothy I. Shields, 87, Wellsville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilson and Son Funeral Chapel, Wellsville. Burial will follow at the Wellsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Shields died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since May 1997.

She was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Nebraska, the daughter of James and Emma Helt Bruce. She lived most of her life in rural Miami County.

She was a homemaker and was employed with the H.D. Lee Manufacturing Co. in Ottawa for 15 years. She was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church and the Worth While Club, and was a past worthy matron of the Gardner Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 236.

On Nov. 24, 1929, she married Elmer R. "Ted" Shields at Wellsville. He died Feb. 22, 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Shields, Ottawa, and Dennis Shields, Wellsville; a daughter, Mona Murphy, Wellsville; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Claude Bruce; and a sister, Ethel Carrow.

The family will meet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Wellsville Baptist Church or the Wellsville Manor Residents' Activity Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. 486, Wellsville 66092.
