Georgia authorities arrested a fugitive from Lawrence without incident Tuesday morning after they pulled him over for a traffic violation.
In November, local officials featured James D. Hawkins, 20, in a Crime Stoppers program designed to reward tips with $100 in fast cash. Police received information that Hawkins was in De Kalb County, Ga., where he was arrested at 1:48 a.m. Tuesday during a routine traffic stop. His name appeared on a national background check, and officers arrested him for probation violations for failing to report to community corrections officers this year.
Crime Stoppers coordinator David Anderson said the reward wasn't paid.
"His arrest wasn't based on the Crime Stoppers tip," he said.
