Police were investigating the daylight armed robbery of two men in their apartment on Monday afternoon.
Lawrence police are searching for three men who robbed two Kansas University students Monday afternoon in their apartment at gunpoint.
Police at 12:39 p.m. were called to West Hills Apartments, 1012 Emery, where the victims reported they had been robbed. One of the suspects carried a handgun.
The three suspects knocked on the apartment door and entered when one of the victims answered, Lawrence police spokesman Matt Sarna said.
The victims were "restrained" during the robbery, Sarna said, but police weren't saying how.
The suspects reportedly left in an unknown direction, after taking the victims' shoes and an electronic video game or CD player, authorities and the apartment manager said.
There were no injuries.
It was unknown if the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle.
The victims and suspects did not know each other, and it appeared that the apartment was picked at random, Sarna said.
Police searched the area for the suspects Monday afternoon. Detectives also dusted the apartment for fingerprints.
The apartment manager, who asked that her name not be used, said that no residents living in the building where the robbery occurred heard or saw anything unusual until police arrived.
She said residents can hear movement in interior hallways that lead to various apartments in each building.
"You can hear every time someone comes down those hallways," she said. "Nobody saw or heard anything."
One of the suspects was described as a black man, age 20-22, about 6-foot, wearing a black jacket and black sweat pants.
A second suspect was described as a black man, age 20-22, about 6-foot, wearing unknown clothing.
A third suspect was described as a white man, age 18-19, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot, wearing a yellow jacket.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS (8477).
