Can you find out the number of visitor days last year at Lone Star Lake and divide that into the cost of those dam improvements to find out what the cost per visitor is compared to the rest of taxpayers in the county?

At this point that's an impossible calculation. The Douglas County Public Works Department has not yet updated the cost estimates from a 1989 study outlining repair options to the damaged spillway.

Public works director Keith Browning has said updating that study is the first step toward solving the problem.

In 1989, the costs for the three possible repair options ranged from $700,000 to $1 million.

Why did the district decide to pay custodians for the 31st of December, but not the food service workers? There are a lot of food service workers extremely upset with this decision and want to know how it came about.

"Only 12-month employees get paid for that day," Marcia Bone, Lawrence school district director of human resources, said. "Employees who were not regularly scheduled for that day do not get paid."
