— Topeka Hayden rained three-point baskets on Baldwin in a battle of boys basketball unbeatens on Tuesday night.

Guard John Tetuan was the primary rainmaker, hitting five treys as the Wildcats stopped the Bulldogs, 64-56.

Tetuan had just one three-pointer in the first half as Baldwin, 4-1, carved a 30-26 lead. Hayden rallied for a 43-42 edge after three quarters. Then the skies opened.

"We started making mistakes," Baldwin coach Bobby Taul said. "We didn't handle the ball very well, and they were hitting threes like crazy."

Hayden, 3-0, finished with nine three-pointers.

All of Tetuan's five goals were treys. He was also four of five at the free-throw line to finish with a game-high 19 points.

Baldwin struggled at the free throw line, making only nine of 20 attempts. Andy Meinen led the 'Dogs with 15 points. Heath Knight and Brian Williams added a dozen apiece.

"If we'd have made our free throws, the game would have been a lot closer," Taul said. "But it was the threes that ended up beating us."
