The Paretsky Children's Room at the Lawrence Public Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday for renovations.
The bookshelves in the room will be reorganized as part of a two-part renovation project, said Jan Irving, head of the library's youth services department.
"People will have better light and better sight lines," she said.
A children's reading and creative program on mummies, scheduled for Saturday, has been rescheduled to Feb. 13. The time of 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. will be the same.
In January, the second stage of the renovations will be conducted. In that phase, the service desk will be moved to the center of the room, Irving said.
"It will look different when people come in the later part of next week, and it will look much different in January," she said. "I think people will like the fact that they will be able to find things and will be able to see them better."
Irving said the renovation has been planned for nearly a year.
