— Graveside services for Clayton B. Smith, 67, Basehor, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, December 8, 1998, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Oakside, Mo., the son of Adam and Rachel Thompson Smith. He graduated from Summersville High School, Summersville, Mo. He moved to Basehor from Kansas City, Kan., 25 years ago.

He was a buildings and grounds supervisor for the Kansas City, Kan., Community College, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Victory Junction Coffee Club.

He married Carol Pine on Nov. 30, 1956, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Brian J. Smith, Basehor, and Mark E. Smith, Lansing; a daughter, Elaine Taylor, Lenexa; two brothers, Carroll Smith, Glen Carbon, Ill., and Kenton Smith, Granite City, Ill.; two sisters, Norma Rosenbower, Crown Point, Ind., and Lorna Rhodes, Paoli, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.

The family suggests memorials to Basehor United Methodist Church, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home, 604 E. Fourth, Tonganoxie 66086.
