Lawrence High and Free State High have been assigned to the same Class 6A wrestling regional.
Free State will play host to the eight-team meet on Feb. 20. Other teams at the regional are Kansas City Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Shawnee Mission North, SM Northwest, SM West and Topeka.
In Class 4A, Ottawa will play host to a 15-team regional. Baldwin, Eudora and Tonganoxie will compete at the regional.
City hoops teams
assigned to O-South
Lawrence High and Free State High have been assigned to the Class 6A basketball sub-state at Olathe South.
Olathe South will play host to a four-team sub-state. The second site will be determined on Feb. 27.
The eight teams at the sub-state are O-South, Topeka, Olathe East, Lawrence, Leavenworth, Olathe North, Shawnee Mission Northwest and Free State.
Seeds No. 1, 4, 5 and 8 will be at one site. Nos. 2, 3, 6 and 7 will be at the other site.
LHS sophs win
Terrell Johnson scored 15 points and hauled in 12 rebounds to boost Lawrence High's sophomore boys basketball team to a 53-41 victory over Blue Valley North on Monday. Devin McAnderson chipped in nine points for the Lions (2-0). Next for LHS is a Thursday home contest against Kansas City Washington.
Central defeated SM Northwest, 46-41, in junior high girls basketball on Monday at Central. Sarah Rooney scored 14 points, Stacie Garland 11 and Mallory Richardson 10 for Central, 3-8. Central will meet Emporia in the Brandy Martin Memorial Tournament at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at South.
Seabury nips Eudora
Seabury Academy dumped Eudora, 28-23, in eighth-grade girls basketball on Monday to improve its record to 5-2. In the B game, Seabury lost to Eudora's seventh-graders, 18-10.
