A Topeka man was arrested Monday night after he lost control of his car during a chase near Clinton.

Steven Richard Boos, 24, sped away in his Camaro after a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy spotted him near a vehicle at a boat ramp area on Clinton Lake's west side about 8:55 p.m. Monday. The deputy saw a broken window on a nearby pickup truck, Sheriff Loren Anderson said, and gave chase.

Boos couldn't negotiate a curve and broke through a fence, stopping in a field on the west edge of Clinton. He was not injured.

``When they interviewed him, he apparently gave additional information on five other car burglaries near the lake,'' Anderson said.

Deputies arrested Boos on six counts of burglary, six counts of theft and six counts of criminal damage to property -- one of each for the six auto burglaries. He was also arrested for illegal registration, attempting to elude, and no proof of insurance.

Boos remained in the Douglas County jail Tuesday night on $14,050 bond.
