The Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission wants Penny Construction Co. Inc. to provide a number of things before it will render a decision on a temporary use permit for a sand dredging operation, including:
- Estimated revenue generated for the county from the operation.
- Improvements done at the business' expense to a road and bridge leading to the site.
- Attempt to work out satisfactory arrangements, if possible, with nearby homeowners who are opposed to increased truck traffic.
- Find out the train schedule from Union Pacific/Burlington Northern railroad, which often leaves trains parked on tracks in the area -- blocking access to the river -- for several hours at a time.
