Memorial services for Flora Chiarappa Silini, 75, Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, Conn.
Mrs. Silini died Monday, July 27, 1998, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She had lived in Lawrence for the past 31 years and retired in 1988 from Kansas University, where she had been a professor of piano in the School of Fine Arts.
Survivors include a son, Robert Silipigni, of the home; and a brother, Elmer Chiarappa, Middlefield, Conn.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.
FRANCES J. FINE STEWART
Ottawa -- Graveside services for Frances J. Fine Stewart, 98, Portland, Ore., will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa.
Mrs. Stewart died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, in Portland, Ore.
She was born Sept. 27, 1899, in Ottawa, the daughter of John Steve Garrett and Naomi ``Oma'' Anderson. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1917. She lived in Ottawa before moving to Independence, Kan. She then moved to California in 1953.
She was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Linwood, Calif., for 10 years, retiring in 1964.
She was a member of the First AME Church of Compton, Calif., and the Senior Citizens Club of Compton, Calif. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Carolyn A. Walker No. 90, Order of Eastern Star.
She married Marvel Fine on June 12, 1921, in Ottawa. He died Jan. 19, 1973. She married Joseph B. Stewart on March 7, 1982. He died March 17, 1995.
Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, is in charge of arrangements.
DORA G. NEIS
Eudora -- Services for Dora G. Neis, 96, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Eudora. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mrs. Neis died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born March 2, 1902, in Olathe, the daughter of William and Anna Schumacker Knake.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
She married Peter J. Neis on March 9, 1921, in Eudora. He died May 8, 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Clifford and Charles Neis, both of Eudora; a sister, Pearl Neis, Eudora, five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, which is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul United Church of Christ or the Eudora Nursing Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
