According to Janice Early-Weas, director of community relations for the hospital, LMH receives no tax support from the City of Lawrence or Douglas County. The hospital's operating expense budget -- about $49.5 million for 1998 -- is supported by revenues from services rendered to patients. About 55 percent of LMH revenues are from government-related health care insurers, including Medicare and Medicaid. Those programs are supported by tax money, but it is not collected by local governments.
HOW MUCH OF THE BUDGET FOR LAWRENCE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IS PUBLICLY FUNDED? PLEASE GIVE THE PERCENTAGE AND DOLLAR AMOUNT, IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE TOTAL LMH BUDGET.
