A 15-year-old boy was shot in the hand this week, but police say he's not cooperating with their investigation.
A friend of the Lawrence boy took him to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Wednesday night, and doctors called police because they are required to report gunshot wounds. Although he answered questions at first, Detective John Lewis said he became evasive when police began to dissect his story.
Police became suspicious when he said he was shot at 10th and Michigan, an intersection which doesn't exist in Lawrence.
``Obviously, somebody shot him,'' Lewis said, ``but it's still under investigation.''
The boy told police that a white male with blond hair, between the ages of 18 and 25 and about 5-feet, 8-inches tall shot him. The wounded by told police a friend who happened to be driving by picked him up in the 900 block of Michigan and drove him to the hospital.
The boy was treated and released from the hospital.
No one has been arrested in the case, and Lewis said it's unknown if the description given to police is accurate.
